World Premiere for Swegreen's Smallest Vertical Farming Unit

After two years of development, Swegreen is now launching its smallest farming cabinet, capable of producing 70-120 crops or lettuces per day. This will be offered as a subscription service to customers. The first to roll out is Östenssons' new store in Norrköping, marking the start of several planned in-store farming units as part of a collaboration between Swegreen and Östenssons.

Swegreen and Östenssons introduced their first in-store farm on Wednesday, March 22, with plans for more to be installed in Östenssons' stores across Östergötland. The new in-store farming system allows customers to purchase freshly harvested, locally grown leafy greens (lettuces and herbs) directly in the store. This partnership between Swegreen and Östenssons will contribute to more sustainable and eco-friendly food production.

The new collaboration is part of Swegreen's initiative to revolutionize the food industry by offering more sustainable and local alternatives to consumers through partnerships with grocery chains throughout Sweden. Growing vegetables directly in-store promotes more sustainable consumption, reducing the need for long supply chains and lowering transportation costs, which in turn helps decrease carbon emissions.

Östenssons is an independent grocery chain in Östergötland, with stores in Motala, Vadstena, Skänninge, Borensberg, and Linköping. As Östenssons launches its first store in Norrköping, they are simultaneously introducing their first in-store farm.

"We are proud to launch our first in-store farm with Östenssons, one of Sweden's leading independent grocery chains," said Swegreen's CEO, Pierre Mohlin. "We are confident that this partnership will contribute to more sustainable food production and is just the first step toward a strategic collaboration. Our technology enables us to offer the highest quality crops to our customers at very competitive prices."

Östenssons' CEO, Anders Lindblom, is equally enthusiastic about the partnership:
"We are excited to launch our first in-store farm together with Swegreen. We believe this initiative will greatly benefit our customers by offering more local and healthy options at the right price, creating an attractive shopping experience while helping us reduce our climate impact."

The launch of the first in-store farm took place on Wednesday, March 22, at Björkalund, Norrköping, where Östenssons' new store is located.
