Swegreen Receives Honorable Mention in the Smart Industry 2021 Competition
Swegreen has been recognized for its digital solution for vertical farming at the Smart Industry competition, organized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).
Smart Industry highlights and rewards companies that leverage the opportunities of digitalization in a smart and innovative way, with concrete implementation and results. The award was initiated in 2016 when Sweden’s former Minister of Enterprise, Mikael Damberg, launched the national strategy for digitalization, calling for actions across the core of Sweden’s industrial and manufacturing sectors. Since then, the event has been carried out by IVA in collaboration with Technology Industries of Sweden and Siemens.
Honorable Mention in Smart Industry for Swegreen
Swegreen, which offers an automated and digitalized solution for in-store vertical farming of leafy greens, herbs, and lettuces year-round, was awarded an honorable mention in the 2021 edition of Smart Industry.
The award ceremony was opened by IVA’s Deputy CEO and featured a message from Minister of Enterprise Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson. Sepehr Mousavi and Andreas Dahlin from Swegreen accepted the award from the jury chairman Johan Weigelt, along with jury members Mikael Leksell, CEO of Siemens Nordics, and Klas Wåhlberg, CEO of Technology Industries of Sweden.
The motivation for the honorable mention reads: "Swegreen is an excellent example of how intelligent technology, combined with innovative and challenging ideas, can be used to create entirely new business models—and even become something better than the original. The company’s clear focus on digitalization as a tool for contributing to sustainable solutions and the circular economy is also highly commendable."
"The finalists this year were very different in their operations, but they all serve as great examples of the opportunities that digitalization unlocks. This year's awards go to companies that have used digitalization to develop entirely new business models. This demonstrates the power of digitalization, and we want to highlight them as role models for others to be inspired by," says Johan Weigelt, Vice Chairman of IVA and Chairman of the Jury.
