ICA Supermarket Sävja chooses in-store farm from Swegreen
Swegreen, a world leader in in-store farming, is now setting up an in-store farm at ICA Supermarket Sävja.
Roberto Logiodice, store manager at ICA Supermarket Sävja, expresses his joy and anticipation about the new installation: "We are looking forward to the upcoming launch of Swegreen's in-store farm in our store. The in-store farm platform, called Saga, not only improves the freshness and quality of the products but also offers a shopping experience from the future while significantly reducing the environmental footprint associated with conventional farming methods. By minimizing transportation and using new technology, Swegreen continues to set new standards in the food industry.
“With the launch of Saga, we have opened up a new segment for Swegreen, targeting smaller stores like ICA Supermarket Rimforsa and ICA Supermarket Sävja. The flexibility of this platform allows us to bring the benefits of in-store farming to a wider audience and ensure that fresh, locally grown products are available year-round,” Swegreen’s CEO Pierre Mohlin expresses his excitement about the new installations. He further adds, "The response has been incredibly positive. Our goal is to create a sustainable and efficient food production system that meets the needs of local markets, and the Saga installation is an important step toward achieving that."
Operator of the Month
At Swegreen, we have chosen to introduce the "Operator of the Month" award to highlight and acknowledge our operators who work daily in our cultivation systems. The operator's job involves growing plants from seed to harvest. Together with Swegreen’s Customer Success team, a harvest plan is created, tailored to the season and demand in the store. The daily work as an operator includes planting seeds, transplanting, and harvesting fresh crops from the in-store farm system. The first person to be nominated is Helena at Stora Coop Bromma!

What a surprise! I am very proud and honored.
What is the best part of working in cultivation?
That's a tough question. Honestly, there’s nothing about working in the cultivation system that I don’t enjoy. But the best part is probably how peaceful and harmonious it is, and something I look forward to doing every day. And not to forget, all the friendly and happy customers who add so much every day. All the positive feedback from customers always makes me happy and a little extra proud. A bonus is the lovely smell of basil that spreads while you work!
What’s your favorite crop?
It has to be basil, it’s absolutely fantastic! Crispy lettuce isn’t far behind either, they share the top spot for me.
