40,000 EURO to Swegreen Ahead of U.S. Expansion

Swegreen has been granted financial support to expand internationally, with a focus on the U.S. market. The funding comes from the Nopef fund, which aims to scale Nordic eco-friendly solutions to global markets.

The Nordic Project Fund (Nopef) offers financial support to Nordic companies for the evaluation and preparation of international investments, as well as funding for potential business establishment in non-EU foreign markets. Now, through the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (Nefco) and the Nordic Council of Ministers (the official cooperation body of the Nordic governments), the fund has granted Swegreen 40,000 EURO for market expansion and establishment in the U.S.

"We are proud of the unanimous decision from the fund's evaluator. We will do our best to develop an effective strategy to expand our innovation into the U.S. market during 2023. This will happen in collaboration with a local and experienced partner," says Swegreen's Project Manager and Chief Innovation Officer, Sepehr Mousavi.

The goal of the Nopef fund is to strengthen the international competitiveness of Nordic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by promoting Nordic green and sustainable solutions in global markets. When assessing projects like Swegreen's, the fund considers whether the project has a positive impact on the environment and climate, as well as whether there are concrete export opportunities and the promotion of Nordic technology and values.

"Our efforts to explore the U.S. market started back in 2020, which has led to a close two-year collaboration with Kogod Business School and the executive master’s program 'Sustainable Management' at American University in Washington, DC. The U.S. is a key market with great potential for us, both in terms of expanding our in-store solutions and potential venture capital funding," says Mousavi.
